Digital Art.. Real Art?

People often  ask the question; is digital art real art? Let's find out.

 Art;

- The creation of beautiful or significant things; art does not need to be innovative or good.
- Architecture is the art of wasting space beautifully.
- The products of human creativity; works of art collectively.
- Digital art is like any other art. It just is created using different tools than the more traditional arts.
- Art is not about the tools used to create it. It is about the vision, message, or emotion of the artist.
- Photography is a medium through which artist's may create art. Likewise, a computer is just a medium or tool through which an artist can express his/her vision of line, form, color, composition and rhythm.
It is clear that digital art is real art.

Advantages of digital art;

 - More and more, art programs have become an integral part of the art industry. Computer-generated art is everywhere in the commercial market;on pamphlets and billboards, in movies and on TV. Yet there are still those artists who prefer the feel of the brush in their fingers and the texture of real paint. Neither approach is superior. The ideal method depends on the project at hand and the preference the artist has.
- One of the best aspects of digital art is the undo option. Yes, the traditional artist can paint over mistakes, but is an imperfect approach. Using software, the artist can bactrack one step at a time with a simple click of a button, completely erasing any mistakes.
- Working in a digital format means that the artist can save copies of his work to several locations so that if something happens to one of them, he/she can easily retrieve the work from another source. If something happens to an original painting, it's gone forever.
- A substantial part of the software tools – these for graphical design, manipulation of 3D objects, space and animation, as well as the specialised applications for creative modelling, e.g. in fashion, agent and avatar technologies, stimulate the development of the creative nature of a growing number of people.
- One of the biggest advantages of digital imaging is the ability of the operator to post-process the image. Post-processing of the image allows the operator to manipulate the pixel shades to correct image density and contrast.
- Traditional art can be difficult to work with, because physical mediums are often indelible and if you mess up, you have to start over. With graphic art, you have the option of hitting a few keys and preventing a disaster. That’s the attraction of graphic art. It lets people rest easier knowing that their art is virtually untouchable, and safe from smudging, or fading.

Skills that a digital artist must possess to create a great digital artwork;

The skills that are required for an artist to create a great digital artwork are;
- Knowledge of how to use the programs being used
- Creativity
- Understanding of the tools on the program
- Passion
- Patience
- Time

Digital art is real art.
