Digital Media.

Forms of digital media:
- Computers
- Mobile Phones
- Internet
- Ipods
- Televisions
- Laptops
- Discs
- Computer Games.

Digital media is based on the binary numeral system is used. The number 0 and 1 are used to code all digital data.

A bit or binary digit is the basic unit of information in computing and telecommunications.

The byte is a unit of digital information in computing and telecommunications, that most commonly consists of eight bits.

The sampling rate, sample rate, or sampling frequency defines the number of samples per second taken from a continuous signal to make a discrete signal.File:Analog signal.png

In computer graphics, color depth or bit depth is the number of bits used to represent the color of a single pixel in a bitmapped image or video frame buffer. This concept is also known as bits per pixel, particularly when specified along with the number of bits used. Higher color depth gives a broader range of distinct colors.

1 bit (2 colors)

2 bits (4 colors)

4 bits (16 colors)

8 bits (256 colors)

24 bits (16,777,216 colors, "truecolor")

Colour depth effects both still and video digital media but sampling rate only effects video. This is because sampling rate defines the number of samples per second of something meaning that it's moving and still digital media doesn't move.
